How well does CSU research living and learning communities, and do they contribute to the success of students' academic work and social integration? Summary: The National Study of Living-Learning Programs is the first multi-institutional study of living-learning programs. It shows that students in these living evironments were more likely to participate in research and leadership experiences and less likely to use alcohol.
The study was conducted during the winter of 2004 at 34 colleges and universities across the United States. The primary purpose for this research was to study the impact of living-learning programs on various student outcomes. The sample contained two types of students; those participating in living-learning programs, and a comparable control sample made up of students not participating in a living-learning program. Colorado State University’s sample included 824 living learning students and 836 control sample students.
